Location: Bridgetown, Totnes TQ9
Lead Pimpers: Richard Reynolds and Lyla Patel
First planted: 8 May 2011
Description: We planted this memorial garden in a shabby triangular pavement bed in the heart of pituresque Totnes the day after my guerrilla gardening grandmother’s funeral. It was a patch she had tended during her life but had gone into decline in recent months as she had become more frail (she was 94 after all). We chopped down the old cordyline and planted lavender, curry plants, black currant and mallow. My uncle and aunt also joined in. The next day, on the way home from the cremation, we bought some wood chip to cover the open ground with mulch, and whilst spreading it out met a local resident involved in Totnes in Bloom. She was delighted at our actions and has since taken on the patch and made it greater than ever before.
