Location: Trinity Street, London SE1
Lead Pimpers: Clare Armstrong and Richard Reynolds
First planted: 16 March 2010
Description: Six tree pits were created here in 2009 after a significant relandscaping to block up a through road and planted with trees but nothing else. The project to cultivate the tree pits was co-ordinated by Clare Armstrong of Southwark Living Streets and the gardening was led by Richard Reynolds. It is planted with a diverse mix of perennials and annuals including lavender, Californian poppy, yarrow, thrift, wallflower, primula. Clare maintains them with periodic help from Richard and other friends. The most challenging aspect of gardening here is picking up the mess left by smokers outside the nearby pub as well as wind blown litter and leaves.
